| ●Chong Island (Husband Island) |
|
Situated in the very heart of the city, but Chong island can meet all your satisfactions by offering a wide range of services like mountain climbing, beach sightseeing, sea bathing. It is a huge stone complex multishaped in piles running from the high coast down to the beach, which looks like having been arranged and built by hands of a giant in a naughty game. And there is another group of smaller stones, lying under the Eastern foothill called Hon Vo (Wife Island).
There are many interesting legends around Chong Island, one of the strangest thing is on a huge stone of the highest cliff of Chong Island, there remains a 5-finger print of a huge hand, relating that right from the beginning of the mountain creation, had it yet been solidly shaped, but there was a touch by a very big hand, as a result leaving its deep imprint until now.
●Long Son Pagoda
Perhaps the most impressive sight in Nha Trang, aside from the beach and Cham towers, is Long Son Pagoda, also known as Tinh Hoi Khanh Hoa Pagoda and An Nam Phat Hoc Hoi Pagoda. It's about 500m west of the train station. The Pagoda was first built on Mount Trai Thuy in 1886 and named Dang Long Pagoda. In 1900, the Pagoda was damaged in a storm and was rebuilt down the mountain in its present location.
The Khanh Hoa Buddhist Studies Foundation originated here in 1936. The pagoda underwent further restorations in 1940, 1971, and 1975.
Among the interesting things to see is the naturally lit image of Buddha displayed in this pagoda. There is also the 14-m red brass statue of Buddha sitting on a lotus pedestal.
This pagoda was built to commemorate the monks and nuns who died while fighting against the Diem government.
The pagoda, which has resident monks, was founded in the late 19th century and has been rebuilt several times over the years. The entrance and roofs are decorated with mosaic dragons constructed of glass and bits of ceramic tile. The main sanctuary is an attractive hall adorned with modern interpretations of traditional motifs. Note the ferocious nose hairs on the colourful dragons wrapped around the pillars on either side of the main altar.
At the top of the hill, behind the pagoda, is a huge white Buddha (Kim Than Phat To) seated on a lotus blossom and visible from all over the city. The platform around the 14m-high figure, which was built in 1963, has great views of Nha Trang and nearby rural areas. As you approach the pagoda from the street, the 152 stone steps up the hill to the Buddha begin to the right of the structure. You should take some time to explore off to the left, where there's an entrance to another impressive hall of the pagoda.

●Dai Lanh Beach
Semicircular, casuarina-shaded Dai Lanh Beach is a gorgeous spot 83km north of Nha Trang and 150km south of Quy Nhon, right on Hwy 1. Other than the turquoise water, soft cream-coloured sand and quiet, there's a whole lot of nothing around.
Dai Lanh is one of the most beautiful beaches with wonderful nature: white and mostly sand along with casuarinas.
About 1km south of Dai Lanh Beach is a vast sand-dune causeway worth exploring; it connects the mainland to Hon Gom, a mountainous peninsula almost 30km in length. The main village on Hon Gom is Dam Mon (known to the French as Port Dayol), which is on a sheltered bay facing the island of Hon Lon.
At the northern end of Dai Lanh Beach is Dai Lanh Promontory (Mui Dai Lanh), which was named Cap Varella by the French.
Long time ago, Dai Lanh Beach with beautiful nature had been ranked one of the famous landscapes in Vietnam. Dai Lanh Beach has calm, clear blue water as well as soft, white sand (offering safe swimming conditions). A fresh water source runs from the bottom of a mountain through the beach.
Dai Lanh scenery had been carved on one of the Nine Urns which is standing in front of The Mieu yard in Hue by King Minh Mang. Dai Lanh Beach, visitors can travel to the fishing villages in Khai Luong and Dam Mon.
Keep a close eye on your gear if you're , overnighting at Dai Lanh Beach; we've heard a few reports of theft.
